Subject: A Place For Us

To my dear friend Sandra, who is continually in a state of righteousness before God not based on works but on the blood of the perfect lamb, Christ.   Hi there!

Although it is true that there is no place for CDs in our society today I believe that all things do work together for good (Romans 8:28) and there is a deeper truth that can be learned from all this mess that we exist in.  That is there is more to us than our flesh.  That CD issues can drive us to the end of ourselves to learn of what is really important. If you are alone, if people do not accept you, if you cannot let your hair down and be who you really are, if you are constantly misunderstood, then you are in good company.  Christ went through the same things and there was no place for him in his day either.

 MATTHEW 8:20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

  I think this verse is saying more than just Jesus did not have a home. I think he was saying that there was no rest, no nitch for him to slide into, no town (Matthew 13:57), no family (Matthew 12:30), no wife, no true group of faithful friends (Mark 14:27), no one he could entrust himself to (John 2:24).  He was alone (John 16:32).  People tried to put Christ into whatever their form of box was.  Mary his own mother tried to get him to take care of the wine at a wedding (John 2:3 &4).  His friends, the sons of Zebedee tried to get him to put them at his right and left in heaven (Matthew 20:20).  People were always trying to make Jesus into a king, trying to get him to establish a kingdom here on earth and trying to manipulate him into doing what they think that Jesus should do.  Jesus of course never allowed himself to be put into a category but only did what he saw his Father doing (John 10:37).  He knew that this existence was not his home.

 JN 18:36 Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

 There are a lot of similarities between the life that Christ lived here on earth and CDs because like Jesus, there is no category for CDs to fit into.  Just as what people did to Jesus, people today try to either ignore you, criticize you, shun you or are afraid of you. Jesus also had no rest.  There was no rest for Him until he had the finished work on the cross and sat down at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1:3).  Then and only then did he rest in His completed and finished work of atonement for sin.

 JOHN 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

So if we have Christ in us-we have the finished work of the cross, the Holy Spirit constantly at work in us. And because of the irony of living with so great a salvation inside of us while walking in a fallen world, we live with last days tension in our soul. We are constantly drawn to the reality that I have been identified with Christ on the cross, buried and rose again with him into new life.

 GALATIANS 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

 That this flesh that I walk around in and my existence around me are here for a brief moment in time and is not who I really am but I am a new creation in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).  So I am free to be who I am in my heart-CD, CD spouse or whatever or whomever it may look like. That nothing-not absolutely nothing has the power to seperate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

So, Yes in a way there is no place for us on this earth.  But what a gift to recognize that there is a place for us always with our Creator.

 JOHN 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going."

 You know what I think.  I think that God knows the intricate details of our desires better than we know ourselves.  That he knows what kind of decor and environment would speak love to us the most and that he is working on it this very second.  And I have heard Keith Green once say, that if God created the whole world in 7 days and he has been working on heaven for 2000 years that this is living in a garbage can compared to what is going on up there.

 And you know what else, I think the place that he has brought us to is his heart.  It is a spacious place because he love is spacious and has no boundaries which has been demonstrated to us by how far he was willing to go on the cross and the grave.

 2SA 22:20 He brought me out into a spacious place;

               he rescued me because he delighted in me.

  So, my dear eternal friend, we are constantly in a state of being loved and accepted by the One who matters most.

 Established, rooted and preserved by the living God who holds the universe together as well as our minds and bodies knitted with you by the Holy Spirit for the applause due to his Majesty. Love, Kathy
